Welcome to the Phi Chapter’s page!

La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. is a Latino-based fraternity that was founded in 1982 at Cornell University.  Our Hermandad (Brotherhood) is focused on serving the Latino community through cultural awareness, community service, academic achievement, and the promotion of Latino culture and its diverse people.  The fraternity currently has more than 50 chapters across the country and over 1,000 professional alumni.

The Phi Chapter of La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity Inc. at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP), was founded on December 10, 1995.  Our Founders were nine men that sought to meet the needs of the Latino community on campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.  Since our founding, the Hermanos (Brothers) have engaged in community service projects like soccer camps with Boys & Girls Clubs, establishing a book fund to purchase literature highlighting the contribution of U.S. Latinos, and for twenty-two (22) years, we have organized a welcome reception for all incoming Latino students.  Our distinguished alumni include lawyers, engineers, entrepreneurs, college professors, congressional candidates and many more.  The Phi Chapter Hermanos have also served as the catalyst to the fraternity’s expansion in the Mid-Atlantic region by playing crucial roles in establishing chapters at more than seven schools.  Throughout its twenty year history, the Phi Chapter has left an indelible mark in the community that should be celebrated.
